Begin with the floor plan
Mark every place where staff take an order, collect payment, prepare work or hand an order to the customer. A device should have one clear job and a clear owner.
List the connected peripherals
Receipt printers, kitchen printers, scanners, labels, customer displays, cash drawers and payment terminals all affect counter space, power, cabling and network design.
Plan for failure
Document what staff do if a printer, network connection or terminal is unavailable. A practical fallback is part of the device plan, not an afterthought.
Confirm before purchasing
Test the proposed layout against a real shift. Confirm mounting, reach, glare, accessibility and staff handover before ordering the full hardware set.
